These dealers are often referred to as “pit bosses,” and they can make or break a poker game. Pit bosses are often well-connected and have a strong influence over the behavior of the other players.

Whether the players are in a home game or in a casino, they should agree on a set of poker rules before beginning the game. These rules should include the number of players, the type of cards, and the maximum amount of money a player can win or lose.
